Clinical Therapist - Outpatient (Exposition Park Office)
We have an immediate opening for a full-time Clinical Therapist. The Clinical Therapist works as part of a multidisciplinary team providing mental health services to children or adults and their families/caregivers. The first assignment for this position will be working in the Access department, part of our Outpatient Services division.
Duties & Responsibilities: The Clinical Therapist: may serve a caseload of clients, provides walk-in clinic services and performs intakes; visits school and home, interviews and collects information from clients, identifies symptoms, makes diagnoses and develops a therapeutic or treatment plan with the treatment team, plans and administers therapeutic treatment within accepted professional guidelines, runs therapy groups for children & parents/caregivers, and provides family/group therapy on and off site. Qualifications:Minimum of a master’s degree or equivalent ( MSW, MA, Ph.D., PsyD, or MS) plus clinical experience and/or training directly related to children and child counseling. While at least 1000 completed hours toward licensure is preferred, applicants with less than 1000 hours will be considered. Supervised clinical hours for master’s level clinicians obtaining hours toward licensure is provided. Current registration with licensing board is required, as is a valid, CA driver license and insurable driving record. Bilingual Spanish speaking ability is highly desired. Clinical Therapist - Leimert Park Office
We have immediate openings for full-time Clinical Therapists in our office located in the Leimert Park area of Los Angeles. Some positions will be assigned to specific programs, such as school-based services or the Clinic’s Systems of Care program.

Consumer Partner - Transition Age Youth Full Service Partnership - Half Time Position
We have an immediate opening for an energetic individual to work in our Transition Age Youth Full Service Partnership program.
Duties: Under the guidance of the Director of the Life Learning Program, the Consumer Partner will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting the provision of mental health services to transition age youth and their families receiving services. The Consumer Partner must have personal experience being a mental health consumer. The Consumer Partner supports consumers by listening to them and working to develop communication between them and the treatment team; helps educate consumers to advocate for themselves; facilitates self-help consumer groups, attends court hearings, IEP meetings and other events at the consumer/parents/caregivers' request to provide support.
The Consumer Partner assists in developing and implementing consumer support activities; models appropriate practices, maintains communication with consumers and families, attends and assists in the operation of the program; supports and ensures the recruitment of consumers and families to participate in program related activities; helps program staff enhance coordination and community services based on consumer/family concerns, needs, and priorities; assists families in making choices and accomplishing the program's family service goals; increases consumer/family awareness of mental health; support referrals; works with staff to coordinate needed resources for consumer/families (services, donations, discounts, and/or goods) and performs other duties as assigned. The consumer partner will provide on-call & other services 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Other duties will be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: The position requires a high school diploma. At least two years of experience supporting a community-based mental health services program and experience maintaining strict confidentiality is preferred. Candidates must have strong ability to communicate in a team and mobilize and motivate people, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills. In addition, strong verbal and written communication skills are required, preferably bilingual Spanish speaking. Commitment to FSP philosophy of service providers and community partners by doing “whatever it takes” to achieve positive outcomes for transition age youth and families receiving services . Experience working with other service providers to “do whatever it takes” to achieve positive outcomes for clients is preferred. Family Advocate - FSP Program
We have openings for a Family Advocate in the Full Service Partnership program primarily assigned to the Clinic's Intensive Services Division. This position will work with clients in both the Life Learning Program and Intensive Services divisions, with children ranging in age from 0-15.
Duties: Family Advocates work as part of multi-disciplinary teams providing case management and mental health services for adults, children and the family/caregivers who support them, provide screenings, home and/or on-sight services. These positions are assigned to the Clinic's 24 hour services FSP program.
A Family Advocate: assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of a service/treatment plan for each client that identifies the client’s personal, social, emotional, mental health, education, physical and/or financial needs and goals. Reviews and collects information related to the client’s socio-economic history, treatment history, educational history and other relevant data for the formulation of a distinct service plan. Participates with staff providing screening services to clients who attend the Clinic’s services, including completion of pay or financial information (PFI’s) forms and other needed/assigned documentation. Attends case conference meetings to assist and participate in case disposition and follow-up. Mediates and advocates on behalf of the client to help him/her obtain and keep suitable foster care/housing, health care and mental health service, education/school services, benefit entitlements, etc. Searches the community and presents options for additional needed or desired services (ei., emancipation services; sober living opportunities; education enrichment; scholarships, grants or job training programs; age-appropriate social opportunities; parenting classes). Family Advocate - Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist - Outpatient Division
LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with over 80-years of service to the children and families of Central and South Los Angeles. We have openings for, preferably a bilingual Spanish speaking, Family Advocate primarily based at the Exposition Park location.
Duties: The Family Advocate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing case management and mental health services for severely emotionally disturbed children and the family/caregivers who support them, provide walk-in screenings and ongoing outpatient and school-based mental health services. This position will primarily be responsible for case management and medication only cases, and will support a team of psychiatrists and psychiatric residents as assigned.
The Family Advocate works with various multi-disciplinary teams to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of a service plan for each client that identifies the client’s personal, social, emotional, mental health, education, physical and/or financial needs and goals. Reviews and collects information related to the client’s socio-economic history, treatment history, education history and other relevant data to the formulation of a service plan. Participates with staff in providing screening or other services to clients who attend the Clinic’s services, including completion of pay or financial information (PFI’s) forms, medication and other needed/assigned documentation; Attends case conference meetings to assist and participate in case disposition and follow-up. This Family Advocate will work within the team to ease clients' access to mental health service, medications, education/school services, benefit entitlements, etc. Searches the community and presents options for additional needed ordesired services (i.e. emancipation services; sober living opportunities; education enrichment; scholarships, grants or job training programs; age-appropriate social opportunities; parenting classes). This staff member monitors his/her own cases and service provision by tracking client services, in part with Clinic productivity procedures, meets or exceeds minimal productivity requirements and submits accurate and complete paperwork in a timely manner. FSP - Program Coordinator
LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with over 80 years of service to the children and families of Central and South Los Angeles. We have an immediate, full-time opening for an energetic, experienced Coordinator to supervise the Clinic’s Full Service Partnership program in the Intensive Services division.
Responsibilities:The Coordinator will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing mental health services, reporting directly to the Clinic’s Director of Intensive Services. This position serves as a member of the Clinic's Management Staff which requires significant use of tact and judgment to represent the Clinic with a demonstrated commitment to the Clinic's mission, vision and goals. The Coordinator manages a team's day-to-day provision of mental health services to children and families per Clinic policy and contract requirements.
The Coordinator will: manage all referrals and coordinate & assign cases, track the use of program/flex funds, track client services (i.e. referrals, case assignments, authorizations, outcomes, service providers' productivity, intakes, enrollments/transfers/suspensions etc.), attend and run meetings on and off-site, hire, supervise, evaluate and provide regular individual and group clinical supervision for Clinical Therapists and other program staff, review program services to ensure that they meet the Clinic’s & contract standards for mental health service delivery, and provide ongoing chart reviews and regular program reports to Management. Duties also include direct services/communication with clients and their families/caregivers, as appropriate. This position will complete other management responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Skills: Strong organizational, written, communication and teamwork skills are a must, as is the ability to maintain a calm demeanor while handling multiple tasks without losing productivity. Licensure as a mental health professional and the ability to supervise interns plus experience providing mental health services in a community setting are required; FSP program experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage in a change environment and to positively represent the Clinic both internally and to all external agencies is also required. Excellent computer skills including internet, email, Word, Excel, and Access and data tracking preferred. A valid California driver license and insurable driving record are required. This position may travel between all sites, within a six-mile radius, and travels in own car to meetings/off site assignments as needed. Clinic Training Institute Director
The Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic – a private, nonprofit community- based mental health clinic – is a leading provider of mental health services to children and youth, ages 0 to 25, and their families with more than 80 years of service to the Central and South Los Angeles community. The Clinic has an immediate opportunity for an experienced and entrepreneurial mental health professional to direct the Clinic Training Institute which includes training activities for Clinic staff as well as community trainings via the Early Intervention Training Institute (EITI), a separate social enterprise. Among the Clinic's attractions is its national award winning prevention and early intervention initiatives for children ages 0-5, an established history of providing award-winning services to children under the age of five as well as providing much sought-after customized and/or topical early intervention training services to other mental health and allied professionals.
Responsibilities: The Training Director works under the general, consultative supervision of the Clinic's Vice President of Programs and in strong collaboration with the Division Directors of five Clinic programs with special emphasis on a close working relationship with the Early Intervention and Community Wellness Division Director. The Training Director will ensure that Clinic Training Institute operations meet the needs of Clinic staff, community need for early intervention training, and assure that all training operations proceed smoothly and efficiently within budget to support the Clinic’s position as a leading provider of mental health services. This position requires significant individual initiative to assess internal training needs; arrange, plan, schedule, and provide trainings, including but certainly not limited to all details of securing trainees, venues and staffing to provide the trainings themselves; and ongoing evaluations of training activities via the collection, aggregation, and analysis of data.
For the EITI specifically, the Training Director will follow the Clinic’s established EITI business plan; research possible topics and audiences as well as initiate communication with persons who may utilize the Institute's services; secure, negotiate and continuously market training opportunities with key organizations; recruit trainers for the sessions which may be provided at various locations for mental health professionals of various educational backgrounds and experience levels who are interested in learning and honing their expertise to provide quality mental health services using early intervention mental health service models. The Clinic's EITI current training topics to be expanded include clinical assessment and interventions appropriate for the prenatal to five populations. This position requires unique, self-initiated task completion to secure and continue business contacts consistent with the EITI business plan and the Clinic’s mission. Other high level duties and tasks may be assigned.
Skills: The Training Director position requires a high level of initiative and follow-through; ability to work collegially and cooperatively with Clinic staff and managers to provide for internal training needs; ability to provide as well as oversee relevant trainings to support the provision of high quality mental health services for children and youth, ages 0 to 25, and their families; ability to proactively secure, negotiate and continuously market the EITI with key organizations consistent with the adopted business plan; and strong management skills with the demonstrated ability to administratively oversee all training activities are vital. A current, valid California licensure as a mental health services professional with experience providing formal trainings to mental health and allied professionals is required. A demonstrated commitment to culturally sensitive practices, community- based services, and strength-based practice is essential. Previous experience providing clinical supervision to others obtaining hours toward a clinical, California license (BBSE or Board of Psychology registrants) and advanced knowledge of dyadic models of infant mental health and relationship-based interventions, previous direct experience providing mental health services to the zero to five population is strongly preferred. Strong organization, communication and teamwork skills are a must, as is the ability to analyze and follow the Clinic’s EITI business plan, and maintain a calm demeanor while handling multiple tasks without losing productivity. Vice President of Clinic Advancement
LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with over an 80-year history of service to the children of Central and South Los Angeles. The Vice President of Clinic Advancement serves on the Clinic’s executive leadership team which is charged with carrying out the Clinic’s mission and Three-Year Direction-Setting Plan.
Scope of Work
The primary work of this high level position is to lead the creation and execution of a broad range of communication and funding strategies which will advance the Clinic’s interests. Paramount will be this individual’s ability to effectively help design, lead and oversee a Communications Plan which bridges across all Three-Year Plan goals and supports the Clinic’s increased visibility and positive reception by major funders.
In close concert with the Executive Director and her executive team members, the Vice President will be expected to assume his/her appropriate role tailored to each Three-Year Plan goal, helping to create a related road map for each initiative. Some goals will require the ability to assume strong leadership and change agent roles while other goals will require the Vice President to help in mentoring and supporting staff experts tasked with spearheading a given initiative or project.
Discrete Duties
The Vice President of Clinic Advancement oversees the office of Communications and, thus, plans, coordinates, and executes his/her work inclusive of organizing the workload of up to two associate staff members and/or contracted staff accordingly. This means that office operations must be structured in a way which supports the scope of work of the Vice President of Clinic Advancement including but not limited to:
- Developing and overseeing a program of communications with key decision-makers, funders, and other significant constituents with key stakeholders
- Creating forums to solicit ideas and concepts, and then planning for the advancement of specific Plan goals
- Engaging appropriate individuals to help execute customized plans associated with individual Plan goals
- Helping to maintain ongoing, positive relationships with Clinic funders

Training Quality Management Associate
We have another opportunity for an energetic Training & Quality Management Associate to join our TQM division.
Responsibilities: For this full-time position, the Associate will: work under the direct supervision of the Director of Training & Quality Management and in collegial consultation with the Director of Programs, other executive managers, various program managers, the MIS Coordinator and a second Associate to assist with the implementation and documentation of the annual Training and Quality Management Plan, coordinate the collection, aggregation and dissemination of client satisfaction and program outcome data, assist in assuring continuing quality mental health records, develop an annual training plan for direct provider staff, coordinate a schedule of on-site trainings, develop and oversee a database to track enrollment in and completion of on and off-site trainings, network with potential trainers, oversee acquisition of appropriate training materials, plus perform other, similar duties.

Experience in program evaluation, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health billing & charting requirements, computerized data tracking and providing staff training in a community mental health agency that serves children and families is preferred. Successful candidates must be knowledgeable of family centered, consumer-focused work on a strengths-based model. A Master’s in psychology, social work or related field is required. Current, valid registration with the appropriate licensing board and experience in a non-profit mental health clinic or similar setting preferred. Family Advocate - Multidisciplinary Assessment Team (MAT)
We have an immediate opening for a bilingual Spanish speaking Family Advocate as part of our Multidisciplinary Assessment Team (MAT) in our Early Intervention division.
Responsibilities: The Family Advocate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing case management and mental health services for severely emotionally disturbed children and the family/caregivers who support them, provide walk-in screenings and ongoing outpatient and school-based mental health services.
The Family Advocate works with various multi-disciplinary teams to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of a service plan for each client that identifies the client’s personal, social, emotional, mental health, education, physical and/or financial needs and goals. Reviews and collects information related to the client’s socio-economic history, treatment history, education history and other relevant data to the formulation of a service plan. Participates with staff in providing screening services to clients who attend the Clinic’s services, including completion of pay or financial information (PFI’s) forms and other needed/assigned documentation which may occur as part of the Walk-In Clinic's services. Attends case conference meetings to assist and participate in case disposition and follow-up. Mediates and advocates on behalf of the client to help him/her obtain and keep suitable foster care/housing, health care and mental health service, education/school services, benefit entitlements, etc. Searches the community and presents options for additional needed or desired services (ei., emancipation services; sober living opportunities; education enrichment; scholarships, grants or job training programs; age-appropriate social opportunities; parenting classes). Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: The position requires a BA/BS in social work or related field OR a license as an LVN or LPT, with an emphasis in community mental health work; a demonstrated history of presenting options for needed or desired services; a valid CA driver license and insurable driving record to make home, school, job site/or other community-based visits to assist the client in living, learning and working successfully. Bilingual/Biliterate Spanish ability highly preferred.
Rate: $ 16.12 to 16.70 per hour.

Director of Early Intervention & Community Wellness
Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with a history of service to the children and families of Central & South Los Angeles. We have an opportunity for a full-time Director of Early Intervention and Community Wellness to join our team.
Responsibilities: Under the consultative supervision of the Vice President of Programs, the Director leads a dynamic division focused on providing award-winning prevention and early intervention mental health services to very young children and their families/caregivers via day treatment, outpatient and other privately funded programs. This position: maintains responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the programs within the Clinic’s Standards of Effective Care (strength-based, culturally-sensitive, family-driven, multidisciplinary team approach) and budgetary expectations; monitors programs for quality and continued program development; monitors levels of productivity; directs and supervises staff participating in multi-disciplinary teams, which may include lower level managers and professional and paraprofessional program staff, implements policies and procedures and participates in staff development; meets or exceeds approved program performance indicators, i.e. census and productivity requirements; networks with peers; uses appropriate initiative, submits monthly program reports; assists in writing of grants; remains abreast of current and emerging clinical and children’s services delivery issues, provides trainings and performs other, related duties. In addition, the Director will maintain a strong, collegial working relationship with the Director of the Clinic Training Institute who will be responsible for the activities of the Early Intervention Training Institute (EITI). This working relationship will include coordinating staff duties that may include direct services as well as providing community trainings via the EITI. Other duties will be assigned.
Skills: Strong initiative, organization, communication and teamwork skills are a must, as is the ability to maintain a calm demeanor while handling multiple tasks without losing productivity. Licensure as a psychologist, marriage and family counselor, clinical social worker, is required, as is a minimum of four years of direct, related clinical experience and training, training experience and at least two years of experience in general administration and supervision. Demonstrated knowledge of the social dynamics and economics of low-income urban communities, early intervention principles/programs and ability to work collegially in a multiethnic environment required. Employees at this level of management assume considerable administrative and managerial responsibility for the leadership of a division of mental health services by assuming and displaying appropriate initiative and sound independent judgment.

Secreatry I Administration - Fulltime - Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
We have an immediate opportunity for a Secretary I in our Administration Department.
Responsibilities: Assigned primarily to support Administration & Finance functions, the Secretary I is responsible for general clerical duties and will work with various staff, including but not limited to the Maintenance and Transportation management and lead staff. Excellent English and Spanish skills with the ability to accurately translate from English to Spanish preferred. Accurate typing at a minimum of 40 wpm, a very high level of attention to the details of record keeping, the ability to spot, assess, and self-correct errors, and the ability to maintain a high level of personal productivity and professionalism with a calm demeanor in a very busy office environment handling a high volume of paper, telephone calls, and interruptions is required. Early Intervention - Milieu Aide
LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with over 80-years of service to the children of Central and South Central Los Angeles. We have an immediate opening for a 30 hour per week Milieu Aide in our Early Intervention Day Treatment Program.
Responsibilities: The Milieu Aide will work as part a multi-disciplinary team providing mental health services and behavior management to fetal drug exposed, abused and/or neglected children 2 ½ to 6 years old. The Aide will prepare program materials, organize and participate in milieu, learning and play activities, observe behavior and provide behavior modification/intervention, supervise field trips and child transportation on Clinic vans, direct children in life activities and desirable personal and health habits, prepare and serve simple meals and refreshments, perform simple house keeping duties in activity areas, complete all paperwork in a timely manner, and perform other, similar job tasks.
Requirements: The position requires at least an Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education, or the equivalent number of academic units from an accredited college or university. Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field are preferred, as are those meeting qualifications for the position of Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (“MHRS”). MHRS positions perform additional duties and are eligible for a higher pay band. SECRETARY III
We have an opportunity for an experienced Secretary III to work for a program division. Applications are being accepted to work with the Director of Outpatient Services, who also serves as the Exposition Park location's site manager.
Responsibilities: For this full-time position, the Secretary will work under the direct supervision of the Director to: oversee the general set-up and smooth operation of division operations (such as open, read and route mail, file, answer the telephone/email, greet visitors, take dictation, type reports, schedule meetings, manage the Director’s calendar, and other related tasks), draft, update and produce a wide variety of informational, statistical and other reports, track program and building management and program coordinators’ reports, calculate and track clinician/family advocate productivity reports, work with other Clinic managers to obtain program data, including but not limited to census reports, participant files, mailing lists, budget and supply reports, contract compliance and renewal documentation, client attendance reporting and other similar project reporting requirements. Must drive to all Clinic sites (within a six mile radius) and work off-site with a minimum of supervision. May maintain daily attendance log and vacation/sick log for staff. Attends meetings and takes, transcribes and maintains minutes of same. Participates with other clerical and administrative support staff in routine and special tasks that support interdepartmental and general Clinic functioning. May supervise lower level clerical personnel. Other duties will be assigned.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) plus 1-2 years increasingly responsible secretarial experience or Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent number of units from a post-secondary school or secretarial college plus 3-4 years increasingly responsible secretarial experience, or a high school diploma or G.E.D. with 6 years increasingly responsible experience. Ability to work cordially with staff from all departments, visitors, and others plus maintain strict confidentiality are a must. A writing sample and task assignment will be required at interview.
